LONGTIME FRIEND OF MAROONS RECOGNIZED

Brian Bennett  was recognized by the Chatham Maroons prior to the start of their game Saturday afternoon at Memorial Arena. Team owners Bill and Karen Szekesy presented him with a personalized jersey.

Brian who recently retired began his career with the City of Chatham Parks and Recreation Department in 1978. “Benny” is a former assistant trainer for the Chatham Micmacs Hockey Club. He then took on the same job with the professional Chatham Wheels Hockey Club during its stay in the city. In 1996 he became the head trainer for the Jr Maroons.

His many contributions to sports in Chatham have been recognized by organizations such as Chatham Figure Skating Club, Chatham Minor Baseball, Chatham Girls Fastball, Maple City SloPitch and the Maroon Old-Timers. In 2003, Brian was inducted into the Chatham Maroon Alumni “Volunteer Wall of Fame”.
