Chadwick and Edgar each finished the series with 7 goals, tying a GOJHL record for most goals scored in a Sutherland Cup final series previously set by DJ Turner of the LaSalle Vipers in their 5-game series win over Elmira in 2010.
Edgar scored in each of the last 4 games of the series. The 15-year-old AP call-up and 2nd round draft pick of the Barrie Colts, added two assists for his fourth 3-point game of the series. Maroons netminder Gannon Hunter (W, 16-8) made 25 saves. Hunter’s 16 playoff wins are the most by a rookie goaltender since Matt Onuska won 20 for the Sutherland Cup champion Waterloo Siskins in 2019 (when there was an extra round of playoffs).
Hayden Jeffery (L, 14-7) stopped 29 of 33 shots faced for the Falcons.
The Maroons are the first team to score 6 or more goals in three games of a Sutherland Cup final since the Caledonia Corvairs in their four-game sweep of the London Nationals in 2016.
With the 9 goals scored in Game 6, the two teams set a GOJHL record with a combined 56 goals in a Sutherland Cup Final series, surpassing the previous record of 52 goals in the 2019 final between Waterloo and London, won by the Siskins in 7 games.
