The Chatham Maroons annual “Breast Cancer Awareness Night” held Sunday night was a “huge success” according to Karen Szekesy of the Maroons.
“The just over $3000.00 raised from the auction will be shared by The Breast Buddies and by the Canadian Cancer Society” said Szekesy.
Auction items included the special ‘pink’ game worn jerseys which were donated by Simply Vinyl Signs & Graphics, Sarnia Sting tickets donated by 99.1 CKXS and an autographed hockey stick donated by the Chatham Jr. Maroons Hockey Club.
Members of The Breast Buddies were in attendance for a special pre-game ceremony. They are a group of breast cancer survivors who have taken up dragon boat racing. It is their mission to promote awareness of a quality of life after a diagnosis of breast cancer.
This brings the total raised to $23, 335.00 since 2013.
